GDG & WTM ALgiers February Recap :
GDG and WTM’s success is still consistent! it’s has been a productive month for our community, and in this article, you will get an overview of this month’s achievements.
Working in a group tastes different! especially when it comes to programming. Hashcode was the right place to have this opportunity, let’s know more about it…
And here we’re at it again, it’s Hashcode time of the year! Don’t know what that is?
So take a seat and let’s talk it out.
Hash Code is a team programming competition, where students and professionals worldwide form groups and gather virtually to solve a rigid engineering problem proposed by Google each year, and that all in only 4 hours.
The hustle is real with anyone hearing about HashCode for the first time, so here at GDG Algiers, we made sure our dear community had the chance to warm up for this big event, and with the help of our amazing speakers Hicham Bouzara and Kardjaja Youcef, the attendants got to learn the very details on how to excel at competitive programming and HashCode best practices.
To be followed with two perfect workshops supervised by our great lead Akram Badreddine LAISSAOUI on optimization paradigms, and Ilhem Bekker on Data manipulation with Python.
Humm, all of this is perfect, but all since the global pandemic started in 2020, events started leaning towards the virtual organization, which was the case with last year’s edition.
But this time it’s different, because this year we got the chance to host it both virtually by joining the GDG Algiers Hub, and in person at the higher school of computer science, and only this way the Hash Code Vibes Were Back Again, the atmosphere was at another level, and all the teams that managed to join the hub did an excellent job.
And now that it ended, we can proudly say that we again set the bar higher with the the 2022 HashCode edition.
Great, isn’t it? But what if you are completely new to the tech world?
Well, we have considered that! Therefore, a great internal Bootcamp took place this month, look at how good it went!
GDG Dev Bootcamp:
Acquiring the development skill is a game changer nowadays!
Therefore, our club organized an internal Bootcamp, where skilled members and Alumni can teach our tech buddies how to build creative solutions using the web and mobile technologies.
For a better focus, we divided the Bootcamp into two separate programs, every member could join any of them!
The first was the web, which started with an overview of the web development world, then we dived deeper into the field starting with frontend development with our skilled instructors, and finally going to the backend.
The second was flutter! A structured and fun course to get to know the mobile development world, it started with a global view of the main parts of the mobile apps, and then went to the design components, and finally, it passed by the networking and animation.
Since learning is better by practice, the Bootcamp organizers cooked great and creative challenges, so that our trainees have more fun practicing technologies!
Let’s say it out loud, we were surprised by the quality of content that our trainers provided, alongside the interactivity of many members who have shown great enthusiasm towards every single session.
Now it’s time to talk about the Greatest of WTM, it’s without any doubt the IWD! Curious about it? here it is.
This upcoming march will come with a thrilling and instructive event that you can’t miss! It is IWD’22!
Oh, you are wondering what it is?
IWD, short for International Women’s Day, is an annual event organized by WTM, It seeks to praise and honor women’s accomplishments as well as push women to be more engaged in STEM. This event comes with outstanding conferences delivered by specialists and tech passionate.
This year’s IWD theme is ‘progress not perfection ‘ and this edition will as expected come with conferences, and for the first time, there will be a hackathon where you can make a difference! We preferred inaugurating the Hackathon sequence of WTM with this big event “ IWD” so it will be so special✨
exciting right? so make sure not to miss and participate in this latest new edition.
